“Look at me when I’m talking to you”

I met Jeff recently who told me he had been ‘working the floor’ …the ROOM I gently corrected him. He proceeded to tell me he was talking to someone who was looking around the room during their conversation, the height of rudeness you will agree. He then told me he said “Look at me when I’m talking to you” at which point the conversation ended and they went their separate ways.

My constant advice is when people start looking around they are saying clearly they want to move on. Well do them and yourself a favour and move on. But with a rather more polite comment such as ‘Well it’s nice to meet you enjoy the rest of the event.’

I always remember my mummy saying “2 WRONGS DON’T MAKE A RIGHT”. Took me years to understand what she meant but now I do, it was great advice.
