Presentation Skills

When you make a presentation, whether it is to colleagues, clients, prospects or professional contacts you should be saying “I’ve earned the right to be up here. I’m an expert.”

Presenting, in a confident and convincing manner, it is the very best kind of marketing of both yourself and your business. Giving away free and valuable information to your audience, it is one of the very best ways to attract new business and show you are someone to be taken seriously

BUT when you present in a nervous hesitant manner, go on unprepared, read from the screen or put no energy, passion or enthusiasm into your talk you are damaging your own and your company’s reputation. It is always better not to volunteer if you see yourself with these shortcomings.

“I get terrified”, “I just get tongue tied”, “I go to pieces”, “People see me shake with fear!”

This is the reaction of most people who are not used to standing up and talking to an audience, whatever the size!

In just one day I help move you from having those fears to feeling: “Hey, I can do this” after just a few hours. No longer will presenting be a serious challenge in your professional career.

The workshop is designed for you to practice in a safe environment with others who feel like you. This is an interactive workshop where most of your time will be spent presenting or listening to and assessing other colleagues who also want to improve their presentation skills.

Who should attend?

If you are pitching, making an internal presentation, sharing your knowledge at a seminar or just informal talks to any group.

Topics covered include:

  • understanding why we make the presentation
  • controlling our nerves
  • knowing and focusing on our audience
  • room and equipment planning
  • preparing your talk
  • the secrets of a powerful and effective presentation
  • how to start your talk in a confident and interesting way
  • how to keep your audience interested throughout
  • creating a great experience for your audience

Can I reiterate, most of the above list is theoretical knowledge and the time you actually spend on these items will be minimal. Throughout the workshop you will be practicing your knowledge and immediately turning it into a new skill, which will become permanent.

The primary groups I have worked with over the years have been people who are:

  • Accountants
  • Solicitors
  • Bankers and insurance people
  • Universities, Business Schools and Colleges
  • Property professionals
  • Public sector, not-for-profit and charities

What you take away after the seminar

You will be enthusiastic about looking for opportunities to try out your new skill!
