How to become an effective top-class online networker – Half Day Workshop

How to become an effective top-class online networker (and understand face-to face for the future)

Half-day workshop

(OAF = Both online and face-to face networking)

(** = For when we can attend events)

In these turbulent times where we can’t shake hands, ‘work the room’ or easily read the other person’s body language how can we ensure all the time we spend, on Zoom and other virtual communication channels, is of value?  There is nothing to beat ‘real’ networking but when you and I plan our strategy and take regular effective action I believe we can get close to the genuine thing.

The future of networking

I think you will agree there is a groundswell of opinion that the business community is embracing online communication because it has to. But what happens when we can return to coffee shops for 1-2-1’s, conferences and networking events? My prediction is for years to come and maybe for ever, both forms of networking will become the norm. Just think of the time and cost saving as one major benefit of online networking.

Workshop’s Topics

In an entertaining and interactive manner, I will share my knowledge by:

  • Explaining the basics of networking (OAF)
  • How to prepare mentally and physically (OAF)
  • Creating first impressions (OAF)
  • Building relationships through rapport and reliability (OAF)
  • Conversations- Breaking the ice; Small talk; business questions (OAF)
  • Working the room (**)
  • Explaining how to get the best use of time when attending seminars and conferences (**)
  • How to follow up in a professional manner (OAF)

What are the benefits of becoming more effective networkers?

  • Reinforce past and existing relationships
  • Get known by others
  • Get others to know what you do
  • Exchange and share ideas and knowledge
  • Meet key people and decision makers

Outcomes after the training

Being more proactive involves (all OAF except 1)

  1. attending more events (**)
  2. meeting more people
  3. building more relationships
  4. asking intelligent questions
  5. listening carefully for the answers
  6. spotting the potential opportunity
  7. making more permission-based follow up calls
  8. arranging more meetings with prospects

Each of the items on the list will be covered in the training.

Format for the training, logistics and Fees

My experience tells me an interactive workshop ensures all delegates are involved throughout. I would use Zoom breakout rooms and workbooks for group exercises, supported by PowerPoint. Feedback from previous delegates has told me they like this combination

An example of a half day online workshop (using afternoon times)

2.40 Break
2.50 Working the room (including ice-breakers and small talk)
