Date: Wed 3 Oct 2012
Location: Your Office!
We understand that women have specific issues when out networking; not only are they likely to be more cautious or reticent about approaching other individuals or groups than their male counterparts, but they also have additional family responsibilities which restricts the times and days when they are able to network.

Our aim is to make you feel far more comfortable when entering the male-dominated world of networking. For example, how to talk effectively to businessmen so that you are being noticed, listened to, taken seriously and remembered... positively.

In the first few seconds people make an instant judgement based on what you do, say, and how you say it. This affects how you are perceived and taken seriously. We will show you how to make those first impressions count.

Topics covered

We cover topics such as your role at events, what to prepare, wear and talk about, building contacts, feeling comfortable about working the room, moving in and out of groups, as well as many Women 'only' issues occurring at networking events. We will also cover:

Date: Thu 18 Oct 2012
Location: Your Office!
In today's challenging times one has to become even more proactive when it comes to business networking and raising your company's profile. The referrals and existing client work is reducing and the phones are ringing less.

One of our key areas of expertise is helping professionals become confident business networkers and presenters. This exciting new seminar will cover the key points you will need to ensure your seminar is a great triumph and an effective and profitable part of your marketing and business development.

The 5 key stages of any seminar

We take you step-by step and show you

How to plan and prepare meticulously.

How to welcome the guests and make them feel comfortable.

How to make a powerful and effective presentation.

How to engage with guests after the talk.

How to follow up to gain a return on your investment.

The objective of your seminar

Thousands can be spent on running these types of events but what return do you get from your investment? Not just the investment of money but the invisible (and often large) amount of time spent in its preparation.

And when the event itself takes place how well does the team perform “on the night (or the day!)”? Often, they are disappointing. But then why should the support team know what to do, what to say, where to stand etc? Have they ever been trained in this specialist area? When the bosses see them huddled together feeling well outside their comfort zones they shouldn't be surprised.

Date: Mon 12 Mar 2012
Location: Your Office!
We understand that women have specific issues when out networking; not only are they likely to be more cautious or reticent about approaching other individuals or groups than their male counterparts, but they also have additional family responsibilities which restricts the times and days when they are able to network.

Date: Mon 8 Oct 2012
Location: Your Office!

When LinkedIn is used in combination with face-to-face networking it can really help gain new business and raise your own and therefore your business' profile.

Networking is building relationships which we believe you can't do online. But you can start to build a relationship online and as long as you do it in a proactive and professional manner you can really extend your network, globally if you want. At this moment in time, LinkedIn has nearly 45,000,000 registered users. Some of them will be on your target list, but they could prove hard to get to without making a cold approach. LinkedIn makes it much easier to get to these people.

We all have our networks and we often wonder who are in our network's network. With LinkedIn, using the appropriate skills, you can find this out.

LinkedIn is for you business when you want to:

act and not react in this new business climate

approach warm leads and avoid cold calling

gain more business opportunities at virtually no cost

become a comfortable, pro-active online business developer

ensure satisfied clients will introduce you to their contacts in an organised and carefully targeted manner

encourage colleagues to create more cross-selling opportunities

be involved in modern up-to-date business development techniques

This one hour web seminar will show you how to:

get started

feel comfortable with the technology

build your own and your business's global profile

build your network

get and make introductions

connect with up to 80m+ people

get and give testimonials

be polite and courteous online

work with your network and your network's contacts

Outcome

At the end of the training, you will understand the important benefits of LinkedIn and be fully conversant with all its features.

Date: Mon 23 Apr 2012

"Thanks for the excellent presentation. It hit all the key points for me and gave me some good ideas on how to use Linkedin on a company as well as a personal basis. Quick and effective way of delivering information - good content, right length of time."
Phillip Bracewell, Phillip Bracewell Associates

"I very much enjoyed the webinar yesterday. I am a LinkedIn novice and so it was helpful to hear about the additional features available. It was also good to hear you confirm that my instincts in not accepting invitations from people I have never heard of were correct. And I thought I was maybe being a bit stand-offish!"
Date: Mon 26 Mar 2012

The post-event actions

This is one of the most important aspects of the whole event but from our experience often the most neglected. We highlight and stress all the actions to be taken. We produce to you a tried and tested 'After the event' action plan which, when followed will gain you maximum return for your efforts.

For more information, or to enrol, please call the office and speak to one of the Kintish team or e-mail enquiries@kintish.co.uk and we will be happy to help you.

Cross‐selling -the problem

People in multidisciplinary firms and companies, generally the larger ones, tend to work in deep, dark silos with little or no contact between them. In accountancy companies, law firms, property consultancies and major financial institutions there are many service lines departments and experts.

When people don't communicate, the wasted knowledge and the lost opportunities slows down the growth of business dramatically. Even when management encourage and use resources educating everybody about what services are provided, there is often a reluctance to recommend other departments. The interdepartmental culture, generally, is zero and the reason for this is simple; it's to do with relationships. When we build relationships we need to go through 3 key steps ‐ knowing, liking, and trusting.

You can decide if you want people to see your connections or not. How do we do this?

Go to the Account and Settings button at the top right of any page. Sign in. You see a heading Privacy Settings go to the heading Connections Browse and a screen will come up. (See Appendix 1)

Press your chosen button.

But why would you want to click the second button and hide your connections? I believe the first principle of networking is giving first and receiving second. Far too many people are ‘go‐getters' which is fine but do consider becoming a ‘go‐giver' first. Why would people want to build a relationship with you when you are secretive about your network connections but expect to have the luxury and in fact the privilege of looking at theirs?

The daddy of modern day networking is a pioneer called Dr Ivan Misner. He came up with the idea of breakfast networking clubs and his is still the biggest - BNI (Business Networking International). He says unless you know who you want to know, very few people can help you.

When delegates ask for referrals far too many people say “I am looking for anyone who needs an accountant / plumber / circus ring leader” which leads fellow networkers minds to go blank. When you ask “Does anyone know anyone at Smith & Co?” you either do or you don’t. This is the beauty of LinkedIn. You have to be specific when seeking referrals; your computer won’t put up with the nonsense of you saying to it ‘any accountant anywhere’.

In fact I’m wrong - if you ask LinkedIn to ‘find me a profile with the word ‘accountant’ in it, at this time of writing LinkedIn comes up with 286,436 times. Go through those if you’ve nothing else to do!

We start out in life knowing no‐one. Shortly most of us get to know members of our family, then we go to primary and high school then for some it's off to college and university. Along the way we join clubs, teams and associations. We may attend our chosen place of worship which for some could be the pub or the gym! Then we go to work, sometimes in parallel with our education until we end up in our chosen careers.

When I started work all those decades ago the career you chose was meant to be for life, but this doesn't seem to be the norm nowadays.

As long as we were satisfied their friends were from ‘good stock', well behaved and trustworthy, we felt comfortable with the situation.

When you see something with which you are familiar, our brain analyses the information it receives through our eyes and recognises it from previous memory. If you aren't acquainted with the image or sound our senses say; ‘I don't understand, I'm nervous, I'm out of control'. We have to create a new reference in our memory bank so eventually we feel comfortable and in control.
1 Turn up! People forget you when you're not there.

2 Have a giving mentality. Work hard for your fellow members. Networking is about WIIFY (What's in it for you) before WIIFM (What's in it for me).

3 Get there early and try and 'loiter' afterwards. At the formal networking part of the meetings you can't really build relationships or talk serious business.

There are many ways to build relationships and get people to like you but one of the best methods, which most people dismiss, is to remember peoples' names. ‘I forget their name in seconds' or ‘I'm not bad with faces but I'm just terrible with names', are phrases I hear regularly.
When you treat your attendance at business events as seriously as you would everyday business meetings, I believe you will have lots more fun and gain far more opportunities as a result. Surely you would never meet a client or a professional contact or in fact attend any serious business gathering without some planning and preparation? No. So why just roll up at a gathering, conference or any business encounter and hope for the best?

The smaller the event e.g. a dinner or a Saturday afternoon in your client's executive box at Old Trafford the more important it is you find out about your fellow guests. Before attending events I suggest you ask yourself a number of questions using the table on the following page.

This one hour web seminar will show you how to:

get started

feel comfortable with the technology

build your own and your business's global profile

build your network

get and make introductions

connect with up to 45m+ people

get and give testimonials

be polite and courteous online

work with your network and your network's contacts

Outcome

I Hate Networking! Book

I write from vast experience.

I have asked literally thousands of people about their view on networking. They know they have to do it but actually would rather do something - no anything - else! When we do things half-heartedly we tend not to do them well.

This 190 page book follows the progress of Brian the professional, the reluctant networker, from the moment he is about to throw an important business-related invitation in the bin. All of a sudden someone turns up in his life.

His mentor begins by explaining exactly what networking is and what it isn't.

He then guides him through how to:

prepare for the event

walk in anywhere feeling comfortable

distinguish who will be welcoming and who won't

move on courteously when the conversation ends

move into and out of groups

create a great impression

handle rejection

be interesting and pleasant

feel comfortable with small talk

ask key and relevant questions

spot potential business opportunities

set up the follow up process in a professional manner

be ready for the follow up call

know exactly what to say

cope with various replies

be persistent but not pushy

achieve a meeting to move the relationship forward

This is a highly entertaining dialogue between Brian, the reluctant and unenthusiastic professional, and a stranger. Who is this stranger? Read this valuable book if you too need to be a more enthusiastic networker.
