1.Are you a proactive or reactive LinkedIn user?

Reactive

You set your profile up, however complete or incomplete, then do nothing.

Proactive

Users who are proactive …

  • Amend their profile regularly so some of your network see this in their home page news feed
  • Update their status regularly informing your network of useful or interesting business based ideas or news
  • Review other peoples’ updates on their homepage and comment

2.Using LinkedIn to double your business through cross-selling!

Cross-selling –the problem

People in multidisciplinary firms and companies, generally the larger ones, tend to work in deep, dark silos with little or no contact between them.

In accountancy companies, law firms, property consultancies and major financial institutions there are many service lines departments and experts. When people don’t communicate, the wasted knowledge and the lost opportunities slows down the growth of business dramatically.

Even when management encourage and use resources educating everybody about what services are provided, there is often a reluctance to recommend other departments. The interdepartmental culture, generally, is zero and the reason for this is simple; it’s to do with relationships. When we build relationships we need to go through 3 key steps - knowing, liking, and trusting.

3.LinkedIn recommendations

One of the best marketing tools is to get satisfied clients and customers to say positive words about you, which, if allowed, you can send to prospects. Get those words on your website and all other marketing materials so you have third party endorsements.

Recommendations (normally known as testimonials) need to be an important part of your profile. In fact, to have your profile at 100%, which increases your standing in Google, you actually need three recommendations. I have lots recommendations which I can use as part of my marketing.
